I was in 7th grade at that time when the Covid-19 outburst happened. I was preparing and reviewing our 4th quarter exams that were coming up. Then the lockdown occurred, and they said it would only last for a week, then a month, then a year. When the lockdown turned into months, DEPED decided online/modular learning would be the best way for students and children like myself to study without the fear of getting the disease.
At first, online/modular learning was fun. I could connect with people virtually without leaving the comfort of my home. But then things started to get repetitive. Every day felt like any other day, with nothing new happening. It slowly dawned on me that I hadn't physically seen my friends in months, and seeing them personally at that time seemed like a distant dream. I felt isolated and lonely. I yearned for my friend's hugs and to see their smiles. I watched the world crumble through a screen, and it was a scary time.
I could get through all the stress and anxiety because of my friends. I fell in love with video games and began to distract myself from them. I recommend to everyone that's also going through a challenging and dark time to keep themselves sane by doing the things they love. Find friends you can rely on and talk to when you feel lonely. Learn something new. Teach yourself things you want to learn. Learn to love and respect yourself because you are your most trusted companion.
