New year, better me

It felt like it was just yesterday when the year turned into 2022, now it's 2023. I honestly can't believe it myself that it's another new year, more new experiences, and more time to go through. It feels weird when you think about it, you never notice time flying so fast until you took the time to realize it. So many things happened in the year 2022, so many bad and good experiences, experiences that taught me so much and led me to grow as the current Angela of 2023. Life is crazy fast, scary yet seemingly thrilling.

Thinking about all the things that happened in 2022 brings tears to my eyes and gets me all choked up. It makes me emotional to see how much things have changed and progressed through time, it amazes me how I got through so many challenges, challenges I thought I would never surpass yet here I am standing and still striving through life. Remembering all these memories feel like old objects with so much sentimental value. Thinking about the old times feels like I'm reliving the moment, It frightens me how I am no longer able to go back and redo them. In all honesty, I'm scared, I'm scared of how time flies so fast without me even knowing, I'm scared of all the challenges suddenly springing up on me with no prior warning, I'm scared of all these changes yet I need to accept that nothing stays the same forever.

I accept 2023 with open arms and an open heart. I hope this year will be better than the last, I hope for all one can get. I wish to progress this year, to strive and show the world what I truly am capable of. This year I do not wish to compete with any but to only compete with myself and be a better version of Angela that no one else has ever seen. I will work on my confidence and skills this year, I shall learn new things and excel at them. Writing this blog reminds me of a song from a cartoon I love watching when I was a kid, everything stays by Olivia Olson from the show Adventure Time.

Rip Current

This quarter was.....a struggle to say the least. I knew life ain't cupcakes and rainbows but nothing could've prepared me for the reality check this quarter was cooking up for me. Reality struck me so hard across the face, that till this day i'm still on the floor.  When I reflect on everything that transpired this quarter, I wonder how unlucky I had to be for it all to occur so quickly. I've never been under as much stress over so many different things. I was so stressed out that I was unable to cope with additional forms of stress. The waves lapping at the shoreline are a metaphor for my problems; they wet my feet, get sand under my toe nails, and make them feel wrinkled. To put it another way, they make me feel very depressed aka big sad. I do, however, have the ability to not feel overly depressed by simply making the best of the situation. It's one useful thing I learned this quarter: how to make the best of the worst. And even though this quarter put me throu...

Longganisa Festival!

The Longganisa Festival is typically observed in Vigan City on January 22 of every year, just a few days before the Vigan City Fiesta on January 25. If I were to describe the beauty of the Festival Its beauty isn't just found in the glamorous performances of the contestants. Nor the efforts of the program directors to provide a good show for all. But I also think that the people assembling to watch this magnificent show adds to its beauty. to buy locally produced food and to support the contenders. It is encouraging to see people coming together to celebrate a festival that has been going on for a long time. Because of our collective fear of contracting the pandemic, none of us were able to fully enjoy the festival. But now that we can all go outside without having to be afraid, I have to admit that I can call this experience beautiful. REFERENCES: Angela Marie Aurellado, January 22, 2023. The Great Week

One of the most important religious occasions in the Philippines is Holy Week.  It is known as the Great Week in the Greek and Roman liturgical texts because God performed great deeds during this week.During this seven-day festival, Filipinos have the chance to ponder their faith, remember Jesus Christ's death, and show their devotion through a variety of customs and practices.  Beginning on Palm Sunday, which celebrates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Holy Week in the Philippines officially begins. Filipinos attend mass on this day and are given palm fronds as a memento of the event. On Holy Monday, a lot of believers visit churches and take part in the "Visita Iglesia," which entails stopping by seven churches to pray and consider the Stations of the Cross. Holy Week is a time for Filipinos to spend time with their families and friends in addition to participating in religious rituals. Many people use this time to travel and visit family members who live i...
