2nd quarter is over! out goes the old and in comes the new. Seems really strange how quickly time passes; it seems like only yesterday when I was reflecting on the first quarter. The mystery of life is what makes it exciting because you never know what it will throw at you. There have been so many unanticipated events in the last few months that I'm ready to share with you all.
First of all, after two years of being unable to, I returned to journalism. Being back in a competitive setting feels strange. Even though it's been fun to train with new people, my schoolwork piled up because I couldn't attend classes. The past few weeks have been extremely stressful for me because I've had to juggle training, classes, and my staggering 15 missed quizzes in a variety of subjects. Everyone who knows about my predicament always asks me, "How do you handle all of that?," to which I always reply, "I don't know." I don't know how I haven't cracked and sobbed uncontrollably; I don't know how I've made it this far. They are in awe of my composure and calmness and even remark that they couldn't imagine being in my position.
I feel strong knowing how I handle my situation because of their words, which somehow made me feel good about myself. Knowing that I've endured hardships that many people simply cannot fathom makes me feel strong. Even though my situation is truly terrible, it has taught me a valuable lesson. That although life won't always be fair and happy, all I have to do to keep moving forward is get back up. The attitude I maintained throughout my time in school is "Sooner or later this problem will be solved, and I'll be happy once more." This attitude has helped me get to where I am today.
