Araw ng mga Manggagawa

Many of us young people are unaware of the significance of Labor Day, what it stands for, or why it is pertinent to everyone's lives. Without understanding why it is a holiday in the first place, many people treat this day like any other regular holiday. Here are some details about the significance of May 1st and why it is celebrated.

According to the Official Gazette of the Philippines, the first labor union in the nation protested against American imperialism and capitalism and demanded independence for the nation. The group marched to Malacanang, where the American leaders were lodged, from Plaza Mariones in Tondo, Manila, according to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). The protest is regarded as one of the first to occur on Manila's streets. Finally, the Philippine Assembly passed a law establishing May 1 as a national holiday in 1908.

We ought to remember the sacrifices made for the people of this nation, as many Filipinos fought for their rights in the past, paving the way for a better present. The day is beyond important for tt honors the individuals who have fought for improved working conditions.

This quarter was.....a struggle to say the least. I knew life ain't cupcakes and rainbows but nothing could've prepared me for the reality check this quarter was cooking up for me. Reality struck me so hard across the face, that till this day i'm still on the floor.  When I reflect on everything that transpired this quarter, I wonder how unlucky I had to be for it all to occur so quickly. I've never been under as much stress over so many different things. I was so stressed out that I was unable to cope with additional forms of stress. The waves lapping at the shoreline are a metaphor for my problems; they wet my feet, get sand under my toe nails, and make them feel wrinkled. To put it another way, they make me feel very depressed aka big sad. I do, however, have the ability to not feel overly depressed by simply making the best of the situation. It's one useful thing I learned this quarter: how to make the best of the worst. And even though this quarter put me throu...

C'est moi

Your perception of the range of qualities that define you is your sense of self. Your self-image or distinct identity as a person is shaped by your personality traits, skills, likes, and dislikes, as well as your beliefs and moral principles. With all of that out of the way, I'd like to introduce myself. Hi I'm Angela. I'm a carefree person with a bright and energetic personality. Social butterfly is what they call me because I'm a good communicator. I have a talent for being able to befriend many people in minutes. My loud and friendly aura is a crucial factor in this talent of mine. I love being around people because of my pleasant nature. I love playing video games with friends as we lose sight of time, losing ourselves in the virtual world. It is always bad alongside good. My social battery has a charge limit, making it challenging to speak or respond to anyone. Sometimes my carefree nature turns into a trait of carelessness; I don't always think things through ...

Longganisa Festival!

The Longganisa Festival is typically observed in Vigan City on January 22 of every year, just a few days before the Vigan City Fiesta on January 25. If I were to describe the beauty of the Festival Its beauty isn't just found in the glamorous performances of the contestants. Nor the efforts of the program directors to provide a good show for all. But I also think that the people assembling to watch this magnificent show adds to its beauty. to buy locally produced food and to support the contenders. It is encouraging to see people coming together to celebrate a festival that has been going on for a long time. Because of our collective fear of contracting the pandemic, none of us were able to fully enjoy the festival. But now that we can all go outside without having to be afraid, I have to admit that I can call this experience beautiful. REFERENCES: Angela Marie Aurellado, January 22, 2023. Photo edited in canva.
